Lori J. PickfordLori J. Pickford represents clients in the areas of energy, environment, telecommunication and tax policy, with particular expertise in electric industry issues. For over 20 years, Ms. Pickford has assisted clients before Congress on legislative matters, as well as within the Executive Branch as regulations are written and modified. In addition to lobbying, she advances client interests through coalition building, educational outreach and development of grassroots campaigns. Ms. Pickford joined Morgan Meguire in 2001.

Prior to coming to Morgan Meguire, she served for eight years as Senior Government Relations Representative at the American Public Power Association (APPA), the national trade organization that represents the interests of state and locally-owned electric utilities. At APPA, she specialized in federal tax issues of importance to consumer-owned electric utilities, including tax-exempt municipal bonds.

Prior to her work at APPA, Ms. Pickford worked as a Legislative Analyst with the Washington office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, a New York-based law firm that specializes in corporate law and policy. In that role, she represented clients before Congress and the Executive Branch on federal tax, energy, environment, finance and anti-trust issues.

Ms. Pickford holds a B.A. in Education from Old Dominion University (1984), and an M.A. in Political Science from George Washington University (1992).
